Frequently Ask Question

If I’m not charged a commission for recruitment, how much do I pay?

Recruitment agency commissions are far too high these days (from our point of view) and if the agency finds you a new hire quickly (eg. by doing 10 hours work), sadly you’ll still pay them the same high commission of $15%++ of the annual wage. We don’t feel that’s ethical so we only charge you for the actual work we do. Our hourly rate is $295/hour so if you would like us to manage all activities across your recruitment campaign and that takes us 20 hours then you’ll only pay the 20 hours x $295 = $5,900. If you want to be more hands-on in the recruitment campaign yourself, and have us only manage certain stages (eg. reviewing and optimising your current adverts, shortlisting, liaising with candidates, booking interviews, psychometric assessments) then that may only take us 10 hours so you’ll only be paying $2,950.

Will I be locked in to a contract?

No definitely not. You can end our engagement at any time and will only pay for the work we’ve completed to that point in time and no further.

I have a number of HR related priorities on my to-do list but I’m not getting time to get them done. Is there an affordable way I can hand these over so my to do list is shorter?

Yes there is. We assign veterinary practices their own Off-site HR Manager who can tackle any HR priority for you in a way that is kinder on your cash flow. Not all those priorities will be urgent so we space out over time when we tackle them for you, always ensuring the high risk priorities that are putting you, your practice, your patients or your employees at risk, are completed first up. Our Off-site HR Manager hourly rate is considerably cheaper at $220/hour. We have Off-site HR Managers assigned to some practices at 4 hours/week while others have us at 10 hours/week. There is no minimum or maximum number of hours we can commence at and when the work is completed our engagement can end. You can advise us at any time you’d prefer the weekly hours are increased to get the priorities tackled faster, or decreased to spread the costs over a longer period of time. And because we don’t have a lock in arrangement, you are free to end our engagement at any time.

Will you come on-site?

We provide our services predominantly remotely (off-site) and use today’s tools of the trade to communicate with you anytime it’s convenient for you (phone, email, text, Zoom, Teams, WhatsApp etc.) between Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm. If your practice is in the greater Brisbane area then yes we can come on-site to your practice for high-risk priorities you need assistance with where us handling them off-site (eg. over Zoom) is not ideal (eg. running a termination meeting, conducting a WHS inspection etc.). Although our HR Consultants and Employment Lawyer reside inthe south-east of QLD, we work seamlessly with veterinary practices in all states of Australia.

Can you draft or review my Employment Contracts and/or our Position Descriptions too?

Yes we certainly can. 90% of issues with employees stem from a lack of clarity around their responsibilities and your expectations of them so getting these two documents absolutely accurate and tailored to your unique practice is vital and professional. These two documents prove critical when it comes to managing performance and especially when managing underperformance or misconduct. These are not documents a recruitment agency work on for you so by having us review and optimise these documents (or draft from scratch), we get a deeper understanding of the nuances of your practice and can guide you on how best to recruit new hires, keep new hires, and exit poor performers.

What benefit is there in having structured induction and onboarding processes?

Most employees tend to quit within the first few months of starting a new job, with a significant portion leaving within the first six months, often due to mismatched expectations about the role or company culture. That’s why having carefully designed and structured Induction and onboarding processes that map out the new hires first hours, days and weeks is your golden ticket to getting your new hires performing quickly and wanting to stay. We provide advice, guidance, structured processes and checklists, tailored specifically to your practice and the development needs of your new hires, so you don’t risk all that money, time and effort you’ve put into finding your new hire, being a waste.

What if I have a tricky performance or misconduct issue with an employee and I need advice from an employment lawyer?
